About the conference

QTD 2021 is the annual conference on quantum thermodynamics. It attracts scientists from different fields, including statistical mechanics, quantum information, and condensed matter, with the objective of discussing recent advances on thermodynamic processes in the quantum scale. The first edition of the conference was held in Berlin in 2013 and was followed by events in Mallorca, Porquerolles, Erice, Oxford, Santa Barbara, Espoo and Barcelona.

Topics of interest

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Characterisation of non-equilibrium dynamics/fluctuation relations
  • Small scale/quantum engines and refrigerators
  • Thermometry and sensing at the nanoscale
  • Equilibration and thermalization in many-body systems
  • Quantum effects in charge/heat transport
  • Strong coupling and non-markovian dynamics
  • Foundations of (quantum) thermodynamics

Program overview

Please find below the program overview of QTD 2021, note that the times are in Central European Summer Time (CEST). Click on the speaker’s name to get the slides of the presentation.

The talks will be held on the zoom platform. Invited talks are 45mins (roughly 35mins + 10mins of question) while the contributed talks are 25mins (roughly 20mins + 5mins of questions). The discussions and poster sessions will happen on the gather.town platform in a more interactive format.

Poster session

There are three poster sessions: I) Tuesday afternoon, II) Wednesday morning, III) Wednesday afternoon. Please send your poster to the address info@qtd2021.ch at the latest on Thursday 30th of September in both Pdf and PNG formats. If you don’t have the software to convert your pdf file to png format, you can use online converters e.g. pdf2png.com.
When you send your poster, please name your files as “name_surname.pdf” and “name_surname.png”.The subject of your email should be “Poster session”. If you have restrictions, and cannot attend all of the poster sessions, please write the number of your preferred poster session in the title. For e.g., if you prefer poster session II, then your subject should be “Poster session II”.

Also consider the following:

    • All posters should be prepared in English
    • Please ensure that you can read all text/images easily when you view the poster on your computer screen as both PNG and PDF files.
    • Recommended file size: 3MB or less.
    • Maximum file size: 10MB.
    • Preferably prepare your poster in portrait orientation.

We will provide further instructions on the gathertown platform soon.
